The Brief
A private members’ club in the High Weald needed a website that suits a membership of 340: the course shown properly, visiting golf by arrangement, and joining by introduction rather than by application form. It had to feel current and calm, never like an old club brochure.
The Approach
We set General Sans large and tight on a light stone page, with cinematic photography and hairline detail. An estate-plan hole viewer opens each of the eighteen holes, visiting and membership run as short enquiries, and the House, the Golf Studio and contact each get a page of their own.
The Outcome
Members, visitors and proposers each find their route within a screen: the course and its eighteen holes, the days and rates for visiting golf, how an introduction works, and where to lunch. Every enquiry goes to the Secretary’s office, and the site stays quiet and fast on a phone.
About the Project
The site includes Home, the Course with an estate-plan viewer for all eighteen holes, Visiting with days and rates, Membership by introduction, the House with its menus, the Golf Studio with its professionals, and Contact, plus Privacy and Terms pages.
The visual direction is modern and restrained: a light stone page, General Sans set large and tight, cinematic photography, hairline rules and square-edged buttons instead of shadows and pills. Headlines resolve word by word out of a blur, and every panel and menu animates both ways.
Built as a fast static site in Astro with plain TypeScript, Averleigh loads quickly on a phone, keeps motion quiet and respects reduced-motion settings. The visiting, membership, lesson and contact forms are built in.
